Assisted Living

Assisted Living is a long-term care option that combines housing, support services, and healthcare as needed.

Assisted living facilities, also known as residential care homes, retirement homes, or senior housing, are designed to provide a home-like environment where seniors can live comfortably while receiving the care they need.

They are typically equipped with private or semi-private rooms, communal dining areas, recreational spaces, and other amenities that promote a sense of community among residents. The primary goal of assisted living is to help residents remain as self-sufficient as possible while ensuring their safety and well-being. This is achieved by providing a wide range of services tailored to the individual needs of each resident, often includes assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and moving around.

Assisted living facilities employ a team of trained professionals who are on hand 24/7 to provide these services. The team usually includes a mix of nursing staff, personal care aides, and other healthcare professionals. They provide regular health monitoring, coordinate with healthcare providers, and respond to emergencies.

  • Assisted living provides provision of recreational and social activities. These activities are designed to keep residents mentally, physically, and socially active.

  • Assisted living facilities also provide meals that are tailored to the nutritional needs of seniors.

  • Assisted living offers a higher level of care than independent living but a lower level of care than nursing homes. This makes it an ideal option for seniors who need some assistance with daily activities but do not require round-the-clock medical care.

Assisted living also offers peace of mind for families. However, it's important to note that assisted living is not suitable for everyone. Seniors with serious health conditions that require intensive medical care may be better suited to a nursing home or other type of healthcare facility.

Assisted living is a valuable care option that bridges the gap between independent living and nursing homes.
